MTime, a Beijing-based movie review and social networking Web site, has begun to help the Walt Disney Co. promote their films to China’s booming online population, soon to be the largest in the world.
MTime CEO Kelvin Hou told The Hollywood Reporter that within 14 months of launching the self-funded company, its registered users are approaching the one million mark.
Calling it a combination of MySpace, Rotten Tomatoes, IMDB and Fandango, Hou said he took a risk on the “build it and they will come” business model and it seems to have worked. Read the rest of this entry »

I love Dancing With the Stars. Y’all know that. But I have to say, the advance talk on casting the next season still seems early to me. You know, like how you can already find Christmas items in the stores and Halloween hasn’t hit yet? At any rate, the voices so far are in the same “will never make the A-list” crowd and are also on ABC reality shows already. Chris Harrison, who hosts The Bachelor in a fashion that makes Tom Bergeron look like Jay Leno, would love to do the show, but the network would rather not have him on the air three hours in a row. Extreme Makeover: Home Edition’s Paige Hemmis swears she’s all but a lock so long as the shooting schedule issue can be resolved. I’d actually enjoy seeing Paige on DWTS. Bluefly.com, L’Oreal Paris, Saturn and Tresemme will be the key sponsors for the fourth season of “Project Runway,” Bravo announced Thursday.
Bravo is continuing its partnership with Elle magazine for a fourth season.
Other sponsors of the show include Brother International, whose sewing machines will be integrated into episodes of “Project Runway,” and the Hershey Co., which also will have on-air product integrations.

Development of new technology is poised to be a significant factor at the American Film Market, according to market organizers.
Jean Prewitt, president of the Independent Film and Television Alliance, described new media as a “concern” and said that it is unclear whether it will “amplify or substitute for traditional methods of distribution.”
Pace of change and growing levels of interest meant that IFTA has had to replace the new media guidance that it last issued to member companies as recently as Cannes. Prewitt also said IFTA had actively courted specialist new media distribbers to sign up for AFM participation. On the first day of the market it was unclear how many would do so.
