Swingtown heading to cable? More product placement ops?

TVSquad.com is reporting that networks may line up to put Swingtown on their networks should CBS cut it loose. The 70’s-set drama had a summer run on the eye network, but dwindling ratings could make the show available to other stations - notably on cable. Personally, having watched one episode of the series, I think it’d be a perfect fit on cable. The show’s subject matter would play out a lot better without network restrictions. In addition, the series provides a terrific opportunity for product placements. As we’ve seen, everything from Sweet ‘N Low to Tab soft drink has been featured on the show. Maybe the series can revitalize other 1970s products from the bygone era. My suggestion? Feature Mello Yello. That’s one drink I’d love to see make a comeback. That soft drink continues to fly under the radar… even Tom Cruise’s Days of Thunder couldn’t resurrect it.

We believe that Swingtown is the MOST entertaining series to hit any network in many many years.
We don’t stay up that late usually, so we record the show to watch at a more convenient time. Of course, when we watch the recorded episodes of most TV shows, we fast forward during the commercials. Not so with Swingtown. We feel so strongly about this show that we watch the ALL the commercials and make note of who they are. We are sending business their way and taking the time to send them letters stating our appreciation of their sponsorship.
To the nay-sayers – we say that this show is no more “shocking” and “immoral” than any of the soap opera’s that have been running on DAYTIME TV for generations (and Swingtown does it without any of the violence you see (or even implied) on the soap opera’s (and other TV). Swingtown deals candidly with developing relationships and receives negative press from the right – wingers. These same “morals police” are mum about all the violence on TV. Makes you wonder about their priorities doesn’t it?
CBS, please (!!!!) keep this show on your roster – it is the best show you’ve given us in years!
