Mediaweek: Revision3 Beta Unveils New Slate of News Shows

Nintendo to Launch Camera, Music-Capable DS: Report

Reuters reports Japanese video game maker Nintendo Co Ltd plans to launch a new model of its DS handheld machine that can take pictures and play music by the end of the year, the Nikkei business daily said on Sunday.

Titan to Sell Ads on Pace

Expanding its footprint in Chicago, Titan Worldwide announced Monday (Sept. 29) it has acquired the contract to sell advertising on Pace, the suburban bus division of the Regional Transportation Authority.

Including Titan’s contract with the Chicago Transit Authority, Titan’s reach extends to 39 million commuters across 3,500 square miles of Chicago’s six-county suburban area. Inventory from both contracts will be available to advertisers until 2012. Read the rest of this entry »

Brands Play ‘Politics’

This presidential election may be an important turning point in the nation’s history, but that hasn’t stopped various marketers from piggybacking on the election to score a few laughs.

For instance, this week, Vegas.com, which calls itself “The official Vegas travel site,” will launch “Crapshoot ‘08″ with the tag, “Because you need to be drunk to make it through this election.” Last week, Burger King unveiled “Have it your way,” supporting consumers’ “Right to vote,” be it at the poll or when ordering customized food orders at a BK drive-thru.

TV’s Favorite Zip Code vs. Talking Ford Mustang

This month’s new fall TV schedule saw a number of returning favorites from the previous season, but two notable franchises also found their way back onto our screens. The CW’s makeover of “Beverly Hills 90210″ and NBC’s revival of “Knight Rider” were two shows that almost everyone remembered. Would viewers invite them back? And how would a new generation of 18- to 34-year-olds respond?

Telemundo reaches soccer agreement

Telemundo Communications Group has reached an agreement with Grupo Televisa that gives the U.S. Hispanic network broadcast rights to televise the home soccer games of six top Mexico soccer teams in the U.S.

Under the deal, Telemundo also will broadcast the designated teams’ playoffs, semifinals and finals of the Mexican National Championship (subject to teams’ qualifying for post-season play, effective Sept. 29 through Dec. 31, per a statement.

Telemundo will broadcast the home games of teams including: UNAM, Atlante, Tigres, Monterrey, Toluca and Atlas. The first televised game of a Mexico team is expected to air on Telemundo in about a week. Read the rest of this entry »

This Week in Entourage Product Placement

If you watched last night’s episode of Entourage, you caught arguably the best placement Variety has had on the series. In every other scene, the Hollywood magazine turned up on a coffee table, kitchen counter, and, um, another coffee table. If that weren’t enough, guest star Giovanni Ribisi name dropped the mag.  The placement this week (mostly seamless although that early scene in which it’s just sort of thrown on the kitchen counter of the Entourage crew’d pad is a bit forced) was top notch. Apple also registered with the logo very visible, as always, on Lloyd’s computer.

TiVo coming to PC

According to Multichannel News, a German multimedia software company has come up with a way to enable TiVo service on PCs. Nero reportedly has software for Windows XP and Vista that allows for  TiVo DVR on computers - allowing users to record directly to their computer’s hard drive.
