For first time in three years, DirecTV offers TiVo DVRs

DirecTV will start offering TiVo premium HD digital video recorders in a new deal that runs through at least February 2015. Multichannel News reports the deal, and notes how DirecTV will continue to offer DVR with the new TiVo HD boxes as “an alternative choice.”

Lakeview Terrace still hints at strong product placement

The upcoming Samuel L. Jackson film Lakeview Terrace opens later this month, and if the trailers are any indication, the film will essentially play out as a remake of Unlawful Entry.  In the film, Jackson plays an L.A. cop who terroizes his new next door neighbors - a newlywed couple played by Patrick Wilson and Kerry Washington. The movie, which features Jackson in his trademark mid-to-late 1990s ruthless intense character,  seems fairly lackluster in the previews but maybe it’ll surprise. Read the rest of this entry »

Abu Dhabi Plans To Fund Hollywood Movies

Abu Dhabi, often called the richest city in the world, plans to use $1 billion of its oil wealth to invest in movie productions over the next five years, Edward Borgerding, CEO of Abu Dhabi Media Company has told the London Financial Times. EW: ‘90210′ ratings prove nostalgia pays

It’s hard to resist the potent cocktail of ’90s nostalgia and sexed-up fresh faces that The CW’s new 90210 promised — and the ratings bear that out. Tuesday’s series debut garnered 4.9 million viewers, making it the highest-rated premiere in network history among adults 18-49 and beating reigning buzz queen Gossip Girl’s numbers from the previous night (by 1.5 million viewers!). Libby’s and Sara Evans

According to Brandweek, Libby’s Vegetables has chosen country star Sara Evans to help promote their product. Specifically, the singer has recorded a version of the brand’s jingle “When it says Libby’s on the label.” The ad will air on country music stations throughout the month.
