Ads with a Fringe on top

We told you earlier about how Fox came up with an innovative way to cut down on DVR fast forwarding. The network debuted its “Remote Free TV” format last night during the premiere of its highly anticipated series Fringe. From the get go, viewers were told that there would be shorter commercial breaks during the premiere, and they stayed true to that with each running 90 seconds or less. “30 Rock” Plot Twists Surprise Even the Show’s Own Writers

When popular actress Jennifer Aniston announced last week that she would be appearing in a guest spot on NBC’s smash hit “30 Rock” as a “free-spirited, Fatal Attraction-like stalker” named Claire Harper, a former roommate of Tina Fey’s character Liz Lemon who begins an obsession with the show’s Jack Donaghy (Alec Baldwin) that quickly leads to a nude scene for the two, television critics rose in their seats as one to cheer the show’s writers for introducing a plot twist sure to drive increased viewership metrics.

Don Julio and Urban Daddy

The e-newsletter UrbanDaddy.com has launched a microsite devoted to Don Julio Tequila. The site markets toward the site’s main demo (”affluent and active men” as outlined in a MediaPost Media Daily story).

“Don Julio saw what we’ve done for other brands, and they wanted something big and something authentic,” Lance Broumand, founder and CEO of UrbanDaddy, told MediaPost.

CW Finds Its New Ad-Sales Chief

The CW network named Rob Tuck to supervise its sales and advertising efforts. Mr. Tuck replaces Bill Morningstar, the veteran TV-sales executive who has left the network to supervise ad-sales efforts at Major League Baseball’s start-up cable network.

Mills and Trump don’t mix

According to several online sources, Heather Mills has been dropped from the cast of Donald Trump’s new season of Celebrity Apprentice. The show, a celebrity spin-off of the NBC hit The Apprentice, supposedly will not include Mills because she apparently wanted to be guaranteed she’d last until the season finale. The oft-product placemented (that’s a term I’m creating by the way) show will air January 2009.

ESPN brands channel for Bebo

Game on. According to MediaWeek, ESPN has launched its own channel on Bebo, the latest social networking site making headlines. The channel will include clips of such shows as Pardon the Interruption and Around the Horn and SportsCenter.  There will aso be breaking news and game clips that will be accessible on Bebo.

Che on video and theaters the same day

Polish The Apple: NBC Returns To iTunes

NBC Universal is back on the Apple’s iTunes Store–with the TV network company getting, in part, some of the pricing flexibility it always wanted.

Ten of NBC’s cable and broadcast networks’ series will be available immediately for purchase and download in both standard and high-definition forms. Apple Computer’s CEO Steve Jobs made the announcement of the return of NBC’s shows to the iTunes lineup at a company event in San Francisco on Tuesday.
