MTV, area/code turn Snark into Sport

TiVo partnering up with RIM

TiVo Inc. is joining up with Research In Motion (RIM), “a global leader in wireless innovation,” to bring TiVo services to Blackberry devices.

“TiVo subscribers will soon be able to wirelessly control their TiVo DVRs using a BlackBerry smartphone - anytime, anywhere - and that is a powerful example of how our respective technologies can complement each other to serve our mutual customers,” Jim Balsillie, Co-CEO of Research In Motion, said via a press release. “As the BlackBerry smartphone continues its evolution as a modern lifestyle device, the importance of home entertainment integration will continue to grow and TiVo will be the key in providing consumers with greater flexibility in accessing television content.”

MTVN Preps Mobile Video Ads for VOD

MTV Networks will launch mobile video ads on carrier-operated premium VOD services for the first time.

The first advertiser will be the U.S. Air Force, which will have pre-roll ads running across MTV’s mobile video-on-demand programming, as well as campaigns on the MTV.com mobile Web site. SheKnows Partners With Hearst Magazines

Women’s Web destination SheKnows.com on Wednesday (Sept. 10) reached a content syndication partnership with Hearst Magazines Digital Media, a unit of Hearst Magazines.

SheKnows will now be featuring select articles each month from several Hearst Magazines Digital Media Web sites including Cosmopolitan.com, MarieClaire.com, HouseBeautiful.com, Redbookmag.com, and GoodHousekeeping.com.

MediaPost: Marketers Taking Cautious Approach With Online Media

As budgets continues to tighten, marketers are resisting industry hype about emerging “cool” tech tools and are taking a cautious approach to experimenting with new media, according to a recent Forrester Research study.

The research reveals that although 80% of marketers say the benefits of adopting emerging channels are worth the challenges of trialing, 60% struggle to build the case for interactive marketing, and 68% would rather wait to adopt interactive channels until after they are proven. This year, Forrester’s annual Interactive Marketing Channels adoption study looks at where marketers are distributing funds. Participating in the study were 333 marketers at companies with more than 200 employees in 7 industries.

Google Continues Search Onslaught

Google’s still on top of the search heap, as the giant accounted for just over 70% of all searches in the U.S. in August, according to Hitwise. Yahoo, MSN and Ask.com each received 18%, 5% and 3% of search market share, respectively.

Straight To Mobile: Verizon Shows WB.com’s ‘Sorority Forever’

WB.com is teaming up with Verizon Wireless to make new programs available to subscribers of V Cast, its mobile video service, via a new WB Channel. The first show is “Sorority Forever.”

It was created by the director of “The O.C.” and “Chuck” in collaboration with the producers of “Prom Queen,” a short-form viral series also distributed on the WB.com and via mobile.

Ticketmaster, RIM Partner For BlackBerry Mobile Ticketing
