Media Buyers Will Watch Online and TV For Most Campaigns

According to eMarketer’s recent prognosis for online video advertising, the market will take until 2010 to surpass the $1-billion mark, while beyond 2010 huge additional sums will go to online video advertising each succeeding year. The report concludes that more trusted video content to sustain advertising, and more large advertisers seeing enough scale to enter this market in a big way, will support that growth.

Mobile TV: Ahead To The Past

It’s a good thing that the underlying technology of MediaFLO mobile TV is so good, because snappy channel switching is essential to enduring a full-bore broadcast TV schedule on a handheld. I tried it the other night. Never again. Using Verizon’s VCast system, I decided to dial up an evening of prime time via my phone. WB Releasing Movies Online To Combat DVD Piracy

Touch-screen BlackBerry set to battle iPhone

Research In Motion on Tuesday revealed its first-touch screen BlackBerry, the Storm, a smart phone designed to compete directly with Apple’s vaunted iPhone 3G.  Available later this year through Verizon Wireless, the Storm represents the biggest challenge for Apple as it tries to expand its user base to average consumers and corporate users. It features a bright 3.25-inch touch screen and a host of consumer-friendly features along with e-mail and security capabilities that are familiar to BlackBerry corporate customers. The price has not been announced.

CW Gets Ratings Boost From Live-Plus-Seven DVR Viewing

The CW network is crowing about its live-plus-seven-day DVR viewing numbers, which delivered the largest increase in audience of any network series among women 18-34—58 percent—for its freshman drama 90210.

On Sept. 16, 90210 averaged a 2.7 rating among women 18-34 viewing the show live, and when seven-day DVR viewing was added, the rating shot up to a 4.3. The show’s adult 18-34 rating also rose 56 percent when seven-day DVR viewing was added—to a 2.9 from a 1.9. Read the rest of this entry »

Online Video Still Dwarfed By TV Video Market

Internet Advertising Up 15.2% In First Half 2008

Facing a souring economy, U.S. Internet ad revenue grew 15.2% during the first half of 2008 to $11.5 billion compared to the year-earlier period, according to a new report by the Interactive Advertising Bureau and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
